- GTX 760M, 1080p
For $1000 including 120GB of SSD.
The new Acer top 17.3″ gaming machine. Comes with a GTX 760M, I7-4702MQ, 8GB DDR3. The notebookcheck review shows the throttling issue is of no real concern while gaming, so you get about the optimal performance. The GTX 760M is very close to the GTX 765M with being the same chip with lower clocks, so you can OC the GTX 760M in case you feel it isn’t enough.
The 1080p screen is quite good, though viewing angles could be better (it’s not an IPS panel). Battery running times are around 3-4 hours for light use, with WiFi on. Temperatures are average and it’s quite quiet.
So, bottom line, you get a good 17.3″ gaming laptop for such a price. If you will also consider a 15.6″, you have some other options, like the Y510p or Sager NP7352. But if you want a 17.3″ for around this price, this is probably the fastest option with 1080p screen.
- 15.6″ competitors, like the Y510p which has considerably higher performance and also a matte 1080p screen, for $1000.
- Sager NP7370 – a 17.3″ gaming laptop from Sager. Priced around $1050-1100$ including Windows OS. You have more configuration options for the screen, HDD and more. It won’t be considerably faster than the V3-772G though.
