- I7, GTX 670MX
The new Asus G75VX includes the newer Kepler GPU – GTX 670MX which belongs to the previous Nvidia GPUs series but it’s a Kepler based one and generally a very good performer and overclocker. The 670MX should give you a performance level of the GTX 760M-765M more or less, so the performance for this price is excellent. The G75VX-BHI7N11 includes also the good 1080p screen (unlike some G75VW models in this price).
The build quality of the G75VX is very good and it’s very sturdy and it has an excellent cooling system which is very good in keeping the noise and temperatures down making this laptop very comfortable to use and preventing throttling.
Downsides are the 5400RPM HDD, high weight and not-too-good battery performance (3-3.5 hours surfing the web through WiFi). The HDD can be replaced with another HDD or SSD, so this is not really a problem, given other laptops usually come with the typical 7200RPM HDD which is also not too fast. Besides, for gaming it won’t matter almost at all.
For 900$, this is a very good deal for such a gaming laptop. Now, there are faster options, like the Y510p or equivalent new gaming laptops like the Sager NP7370, but the y510p is a 15.6″ laptop and the NP7370 wil cost at least $100-$150 more with Windows OS (if you want it) and it won’t be as quiet. Therefore, the G75VX could be recommended for some who look for these specific qualities.
